Now that i'm older i often think more about when i was younger, how your parents give you advice but also realise we need to learn things for ourselves. I think I've only just learn't this lesson. I can tell my children everything i know, but in the end they need to believe it and one way or another learn it for themselves. And I hope at a point of time in the future they too will learn for their children they can only guide and advise but in the end the learning is always left to oneself.



on another note, i need some interests in life beyond sport, family, the garden, working and creating in my workshop. nature will probably give me some clues.

what started out as a virtual adventure into windows xp using windows virtual pc soon transformed itself into a virtual mayhem of sorts. As well as a virtual xp system I now have a Ubuntu virtual system and server 2008 standard running and while the server still needs some work its coming along. I was attempting to replicate this blog to it but somehow in the transfer it fell apart and the latest update was i was attempting to create a new blog however it appears i need to do some more mysql research. stay tuned. For if i can successfully get it to work i plan to upgrade this server to server 2008 amd then migrate the blog from the virtual world back to this one but albeit on a better running system. still also have exchange to think about....

The gods must be on my side as i updated my blog and it hadn't been updated in 2 years. all went well thankfully.

been so busy and been so slack and so much so that it took me around 100 guesses to get this password again. hopefully i'll be a little more active in 2010 and get back to this. I did afterall renew my domain for another few years.

Well so much actually. I've finished uni for another year. walked 100km along the kokoda track. gotten engaged. painted a hallway (well still to be finished), constructed to work benches and it seems like done alot, just not here. I'll see if this year I can change that. probbaly not so much though. Still so much to do.

nothing new happening for now. In a weeks break from uni, working as much as usual. The garden is starting to look a little better now with the many new natives I've planted, started hokcey again and now within 90 days of kokoda trail.

been working with paint .net recently making some things. could do it with photoshop but found some nice paint .net tutorials so time to do some fun learning.

Well January 2008 is nearly over and i thought I'd get some thoughts down on the year and give me some goals and something to measure against at the end.

Dunder Mifflin

I was reading through the newspaper and came across the teams for Hockey this weekend. Didn't really expect my grade to be there, but it was. pretty cool, there's my name in the nt news.

I've been playing around with mikons of late. If I'm lucky one of my designs will get picked for the web directions south pack. Check out the website at Mikons

On Friday after work the work social club hit the ultra fast cart track for some fun and after starting out slow I ended up improving in every race and came away with the 1st Trophy.

I knew 2 weeks ago we where semi final bound in hockey but tonight in the final game of the season before finals we kept 2nd place Uni Tigers at bay and confirmed our status as a serious contender for the title. Even though we go through as the 3rd place team we have been 4th every game this year and 2nd on 2 occasions. Fingers crossed we make it through to the 2nd week then its only 1 game away from the finals.

Now I have my new server case the plan is over this long weekend to rebuild the old pc I have and then install server 2000 onto it and finally get my website and new domain name onto my own site.
